Midlife Crisis
March 27, 2008 at 4:40 pm | In Random musings | 5 CommentsIn a desperate attempt to hang onto the last vestiges of youth, I went out and did what all men my age seem to do (either go out and buy a Porsche or a motorcycle – I could afford the motorcycle).
She’s shiny, and black, and red – a Yamaha R6, and she is awesome!
Wow, how bikes have changed since I last owned one in the early 1990’s. The balance of the bike is just unbelievable! Also, the power.
Puts a grin on my face every morning when I head into work!

Nice one :O) personally, I would go for the Porsche. On the windy roads around this way we loose a biker every bank holiday weekend. They are all 40-something’s reliving their youth and have lost some of the skills they had when younger. But I guess the thrill reminds you that you are alive again. Better than starting a sewing class or going to poetry readings.. not that i have anything against them.
Thanks for sharing :O)

For what it’s worth, my like minded mental friend, i think you made the right choice.. I too have benefited from an other chance to act like a kid thanks to a “mid-lifer” and a bike is the only toy that’ll do the job. Now you may be one of the lucky few who has kept their youthfull looks, but if, like me, you come face to face with an old man whenever you look in a mirror, then you will also benefit from the mandatory safety helmet laws which were clearly brought in so that people like us can hoon about in total anonimity… On a more “mature” note, i can personally recomend a “BikeSafe” day… you get to break the national speed limit with a police escort and no ticket, plus you will get some of the most valuable advice available.. Ride safe,
